Minnesota House Treatment Centre: Treatment that is tailored for the individual – nestled the foot of the beautiful Outeniqua, George, Garden Route
There’s no question that our addiction treatment system helps more people because it moves away from one-size-fits-all approach to recovery, recognizing that there are many different paths to recovery. Minnesota House Treatment Centre has a focused individual approach to treatment, based on international principles that have been proven to increase success rates. Every patient is different. We base our treatment plans on the patient’s drug of choice, the characteristics of our patients and their associated medical, psychological, social, and vocational problems. We look at age, gender, ethnicity and culture. Matching treatment settings, interventions, and services to an individual’s particular problems and needs is critical to their ultimate success in returning to productive functioning the family, workplace and society. Nobody can fall through the cracks at Minnesota House.
We move past treatment compliance to treatment engagement.
Minnesota House Treatment Centre was founded by Marcel Plodzien in October 2001, who has in excess of 16 years of personal recovery experience. Her vision was to create a home away from home, individual focused drug addiction recovery centre. Minnesota House Treatment Centre expanded in December 2015 by opening a Halfway House which is close by to the Rehabilitation Centre, called Minnesota New Life Halfway House. This expansion was the realisation of a long standing dream.
Marcel, who initially trained as a chemical dependency counsellor at Forest Lake Rehabilitation Centre has over 16 years work experience in the addiction and mental health recovery field working in South African treatment centres. Marcel focuses on the clinical management of Minnesota House Treatment Centre and is Accredited with fdap (the Federation of Drug & Alcohol Professionals-UK) and is also a Registered Social Auxiliary worker. Marcel’s key areas of professional interest focus on adult child work, co-dependency, behaviour modification, dual diagnosis, relapses, self-development and therapeutic group dynamics. Marcel is hands on as Head of Treatment and as such is directly involved in Recovery Lectures and Group Therapy at Minnesota House.
